Short description of the study programme

The  academic  staff  of  the  Faculty  are  doing  research  in  the  most  relevant  fields  of  the  mechanical enginereering  discipline,  and  related  applied  sciences.  PhD  candidates  are  welcome  to  take  part  in  this research work in order to prepare for the PhD procedure. PhD  at  the  Faculty  is  a  degree  that  can  be  earned  by  sufficiently  proving  the  candidate's  ability  for selfstanding  scientific  work  that  must  be  demonstrated  by  writing  a  thesis  summarising  the  candidate's research  results.  Furthermore,  it  is  necessary  to  pass  a  set  of  qualifying  examinations  in  some  basic  and applied sciences related to the field of the submitted thesis. Candidates are to publish their results prior to the submission of their theses.

- diploma of MSc in Mechanical Engineering
- min quality of MSc diploma: good
- language skills proven by TOEFL (min points iBT 90 or 550), Cambridge First Certificate, or equivalent certificates

Admission procedure in general and general requirements: refer to admission regulations
- preevaluation of the submitted documents: quality of MSc diploma (min good), quality of MSc and BSc transcripts, evaluation of research plan; publication activity
- result of preevaluation: satisfactory languag skills and min good MSc diploma
- electronic interview (via internet) (if previous step passed): evaluation of motivation, attitude, technical preparedness in the selected research field
- Dean's decision on admission result
Result: admission to PhD programme (min 60 points required) /admission rejected
