Brazilian students present at the yearly Conference of Chemical Engineering

Four of the Brazilian students from Faculty of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology BME presented their recent results at the meeting in Veszprém.

The Conference of Chemical Engineering 2014 was organized by the Research Institute of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Pannonia in Veszprém on 14-16 May 2014.

A special session on Biotechnology was jointly organized by the Industrial Biotechnology Commission of the Veszprém branch of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) and the Bioengineering Commission of MTA.

The students joined the VBK BME for a one year program within the frame of “Science without Borders”. Part of their Spring Semester curriculum was a 9 credit Individual project the subject of which was individually selected from a long list offered by the faculty members. These four students performed their individual projects at the Fermentation Pilot Plant Laboratory (F-Labor) of VBK BME.

Their presentations were given in the Biotechnology section of the conference and encompassed various areas of biotechnology from algae cultivation through white biotechnology (propionic acid fermentation) to fermentative production of biosurfactants. These are some of the main research subjects of F-Labor.
