BME among the World's Best Universities for Engineering and Technology

The Budapest University of Technology and Economics takes the 254th place among the world’s top 400 universities for engineering and technology, being the only university from Hungary that is listed in Quacquarelli Symonds ranking.

The very influential and widely observed international ranking is based on four main criteria in evaluating universities:

- reputation of the institution in the scientific world (BME’s ranking is 162nd)
In the following three criteria BME took the 201th place in the ranking:
- recruiters’ reviews (by questionnaires)
- citation index of published research
- h-index citations

The first three universities in the QS World University Rankings 2014/15 are the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Stanford and ETH Zürich.

Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) has been publishing rankings of the world’s top universities annually since 2004. In the latest rankings of 2014/15 there are four Hungarian institutions: the University of Szeged, Eötvös Loránd University, Corvinus University of Budapest and the University of Debrecen. Separate rankings are produced for universities for engineering & technology, social sciences, and life sciences & medicine.
