Success of BME Students at Euroskills Competition

The Hungarian team of BME engineering-informatics students returned from the most prestigious professional competition with the gold medal and ‘Best of Nation’ award.

Ákos Varga and Roland Pető, students of the University of Technology and Economics and László Bora from the University of Debrecen represented Hungary in the Enterprise ICT Team category of Euroskills, the largest European skills competition covering 41 different professions and involving young skilled workers from 25 countries.

From Hungary 15 delegations participated and among them students of the BME Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics had the most outstanding result when they competed with the other nations’ delegates in building and setting up an IT network. (At the previous competition in 2012 the Power Users Team with János Csőke, engineering-informatics student of BME also won the gold award of Europe.)

Euroskills is a biannual skills competition, this year the event was held in Lille, France with over 450 participants. The Hungarian delegation won four gold, two silver and five bronze medals and with this result is the 6th in the countries’ competition. The Hungarian team was accompanied by Sándor Czomba, Minister of State for Vocational Training and Labour Market and László Parragh, president of the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In May Hungary won the right to organize the Euroskills competition in 2018.
