BME Academic Subjects in the Top 500 Globally in GRAS Rankings
2025. 11. 21.BME is prominently featured in two recently published global university rankings that evaluate the world’s leading higher education institutions.
The latest Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) assesses more than 2,000 universities worldwide but ranks only the top 1,000. The Shanghai-based list, published in November 2025, places four BME subjects — Civil Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science & Engineering, and Mathematics — among the top 500 globally.
BME was the only Hungarian institution to be included among the leading universities in the subjects where it was assessed: 101–150 in Civil Engineering, 201–300 in Chemistry, and 401–500 in Materials Science & Engineering. In Mathematics, BME ranked third in Hungary, following ELTE and the University of Debrecen.
The QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, which evaluates more than 2,000 higher education institutions globally (including 621 in Europe and 14 in Hungary), was also published recently. BME ranks 1st in Hungary in both the Environmental Education and Employability and Opportunities categories.
In the latest QS World University Rankings by Subject, published earlier this year, BME is ranked 231st in engineering & technology, making it one of the world’s top engineering universities in 2025.
