Double EELISA premiere at BME
2025. 12. 15.Doctoral students and doctoral school leaders from member institutions of the association gathered in Budapest.
On 28–29 November, BME hosted the 1st EELISA European University PhD Symposium and the 1st EELISA Doctoral School Meeting, providing an opportunity for more than 100 students, doctoral school leaders, and representatives to meet, exchange ideas, and develop together.
After the opening ceremony on the first day, a student team-building session served as an icebreaker, followed by poster presentations prepared for the event. After the presentations, the programme continued with three parallel sessions highlighting current topics such as digitalisation and EELISA opportunities for PhD studies and entrepreneurship.
The second day’s programme focused on publication strategies, mobility opportunities, critical research skills, ethical standards, and funding opportunities (ERC, Marie Skłodowska-Curie, Horizon, Erasmus KA2), as well as social engagement with business. Participants worked in teams to develop their ideas before the closing plenary, which summarised the main outcomes of the discussions and group work.
At the same time, the 1st EELISA Doctoral Schools Meeting addressed the challenges and opportunities faced by doctoral schools within the EELISA PhD community. Topics included exploring collaborations, double-degree programmes, the advantages of joint supervision, and the integration of competences. The participating doctoral schools discussed current research results and progress, shared best practices and organisational structures from UPM, FAU, UPB and ITU, as well as tools and opportunities for PhD student exchange and joint courses.
The closing plenary session resulted in an action plan summarising the group outcomes and defining future goals for all members of the Alliance. A detailed report will soon be published on eelisa.bme.hu, stay tuned!
