Bíbor Klekner, who heads the BME Directorate of International Relations, received the Erasmus Master Coordinator Award from Tempus Public Foundation for outstanding professional achievement as an international coordinator.

The awardee “has been a dedicated member of the Hungarian and international higher education sector for more than twenty years, and her work serves as a model of both professional versatility and institutional commitment. Her career began at the Tempus Public Foundation in 2004, where she worked as a project coordinator; she later applied this experience at the University of Veterinary Medicine, where, as an international coordinator, she contributed to the institution’s European accreditation processes and the development of programmes supporting the integration of international students. Over the past five years, she has been a key figure at BME. Having risen from the position of international coordinator to become the university’s Director of International Relations, she shapes its internationalization strategies not only through her professional expertise but also through her vibrant personality and unwavering enthusiasm.

She puts her heart and soul into her work, and this passion tangibly contributes to the continuous strengthening of BME’s international presence. We are confident that her inexhaustible energy and enthusiasm will continue to enrich Hungarian higher education for a long time to come”,

the Tempus Public Foundation honored her.

The award was presented at a national meeting organized by the foundation for international coordinators. The three-day event, held at Neumann János University, was attended by more than 220 participants from 46 institutions to discuss current issues, trends, and challenges of the internationalization of Hungarian higher education.

The central topic of this year’s conference was change. As Professor Sanja Sever Malis, a guest speaker from the University of Zagreb, emphasized, higher education is becoming borderless through international mobility and digital learning, and universities must adapt to new paradigms and global standards.

On the occasion of the award ceremony, an interview with Bíbor Klekner was published on the Tempus website, in which, in addition to her own work, she discusses the motivations for student mobility abroad as well as the programs and unique support opportunities available at BME.
