We mourn the passing of Yacine Belkass, our student in the single-cycle MSc in Architecture programme. He came to Budapest from Morocco and started his studies at BME in 2018. His former professors remember him as a talented and enthusiastic student with a keen interest in architectural history.
‘Following his work during the semester confirmed his true sensitivity towards the built environment. He also addressed the challenges of teamwork successfully, which contributed to the development of a high-quality final result,’ recalls architect Gergely Hory, who taught him at the Department of Urban Planning and Design. ‘He consistently approached his courses in architectural history and theory with enthusiasm, earning grades ranging from good to excellent,’ added Associate Professor Ágnes Gyetvainé Balogh from the Department of History of Architecture and Monument Preservation.
The Faculty of Architecture and the entire community of Budapest University of Technology and Economics extend their deepest condolences to Yacine’s family and friends.
