BME leads the way in the number of projects in the EELISA Academic Call

Two new joint degree programmes will be available at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, in partnership with universities in Madrid and Paris.
The results have been announced for the 1st Joint Academic Call launched in the spring by European university alliance EELIA, aiming to encourage joint educational activities among its member institutions. Thirty-five projects have been awarded funding, of which BME will coordinate eight (making it the most active institution in this aspect) and be a participating partner in a further four.
Wihin the framework of the 1st joint Academic Call, the design and development of innovative ECTS-bearing activities are supported.
The ambition is to build high-quality academic offerings that can be replicated, adapted, and embedded across curricula throughout the alliance.
EELISA is an alliance of 10 European universities, primarily with a technical profile, with BME being the only member from Hungary. Partners include such renowned institutions as the École des Ponts ParisTech in France, the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität in Nuremberg, and the Technical University of Madrid.
The association has approved three proposals for new joint degree programmes, with BME involved in all three, leading two of them. In addition, the winners include 14 course pairings, 10 joint courses, 5 micro-credential programmes and a further degree aligning initiatives. The projects will not only enhance the alliance’s academic offer but also increase mobility opportunities for students.
The following funding streams were available, with a total budget of €237K:
- Pairing of already existing courses (flexible collaboration where courses are connected across institutions without changing core learning outcomes);
- New Joint Courses (fully co-designed and co-taught courses with shared learning objectives and coordinated delivery);
- Micro-credentials (short, targeted, and certified learning experiences responding to emerging skills needs);
- Aligning Degrees (adapting existing programmes to reflect the EELISA European Engineer Profile and increase their visibility at Alliance level);
- Joint Degrees (ambitious, long-term collaboration to create fully shared degree programmes through a two-stage development process).
