Outstanding success of a publication from american and BME researchers

A scientific publication related to BME VBK has been cited over a thousand times.

Among the scientific publications related to the University of Technology and Economics one has reached a thousand citation in the past ten-year period in the Web of Knowledge database. The article titled „Restoring the density-gradient expansion for exchange in solids and surfaces” was published in the prestigious Physical Review Letters in 2008; the authors were John P. Perdew, Adrienn Ruzsinszky, Gábor I. Csonka, Oleg A. Vydrov, Gustavo E. Scuseria, Lucian A. Constantin, Xiaolan Zhou, and Kieron Burke.

The first author of the article is the newly appointed Honorary Doctor of the university, John P. Perdew, who is a professor of the Temple University in Philadelphia and a member of the National

Academy of Sciences of the USA. His cooperation with BME started in 1996 and he – as a leading expert of the area - has been supporting the Density Functional Theory (DFT) research since then.

Professor Perdew joined the PhD education programmes of BME VBK in 2004 and since 2005 over 40 joint scientific publications with co-authors from the University have been released.

The second and third authors of the publication were Adrienn Ruzsinszky, post doctor of the former BME OTKA and Gábor István Csonka, professor of the Faculty of Chemical Technology and Biotechnology (VBK).

According to the present trends the citation number of the article may reach 1200 by the end of the year.
