Cooperation between BME and Kazakh universities

BME signs agreement with Central Asian partners on launching joint professional programmes.

An agreement was signed by six Kazakh higher education institutions and Budapest University of Technology and Economics following a visit to BME by representatives of the foreign universities, organised by the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference. The parties wish to launch joint academic and research programmes, as well as student and lecturer exchange programmes.

The cooperation agreement was signed by Rector János Józsa on behalf of BME. The event was attended by Zhasulan Shaimardanov from East Kazakhstan State Technical University, Bakhyt Zhautikov from Karaganda State Industrial University, Kenzhebek Ibrashev from the Kazakh-British Technical University, Kylyshbay Bissenov from Korkyt-Ata Kyzylorda State University and Abdumutalip Abzhapparovich Abzhapparov from Sh. Ualikhanov Kokshetau State University.

The first Kazakh-Hungarian Rectors’ Forum with the participation of the rectors of 24 Kazakh and 25 Hungarian higher education institutions was organised by the Kazakh Embassy and the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference. The event was opened by Kairat Abdrakhmanov, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a presentation on Kazakh developments in the past decades, followed by Bibigul Asylova, Vice-Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan who talked about the Kazakh educational development programmes. 

After a comprehensive review of the two countries’ higher education systems, the delegates of the universities focused on concrete possibilities for Kazakh-Hungarian cooperation in their presentations, such as student mobility, scholarship programmes and the importance of other internationalisation initiatives.
