In the same league as other regional universities in the THE thematic rankings

BME maintains its position from last year in the thematic list of 900 higher education institutions.

Thanks to its internationally high quality engineering programmes, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics was once again awarded a place in the table Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020 by subject: Engineering & Technology, which includes only two universities from Hungary (the other being the University of Debrecen).

Following the publication of this year's global list, Times Higher Education (THE), the well-known provider of higher education data from Britain is currently releasing its subject area lists. The newly published table, which analysed civil, mechanical, chemical and electronic engineering subjects, evaluated university performance based on five criteria: teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (27.5%), international outlook (7.5%) and industry income (5%).

The table shows that BME maintained its position from last year ranking 601-800. this year as well, similarly to a number of prestigious technology universities from the region including the Brno University of Technology (Czech Republic), the Gdańsk University of Technology (Poland), the Lviv Polytechnic National University (Ukraine), the University of Maribor (Slovenia), the Polytechnic University of Timişoara (Romania) and the University of Zagreb (Croatia).

The California Institute of Technology is at the top of the list, followed by the Stanford University, the University of Cambridge, the Harvard University and the University of Oxford.
