Compared to the QS World University Ranking, EECA is a narrowed list that provides a clearer picture about the performances of universities in emerging countries as it takes into consideration their similar funding opportunities. The universities were ranked based on 10 indicators:

  • International Students Ratio,
  • International Research Network,
  • International Faculty Ratio,
  • Faculty Student Ratio,
  • Web Impact,
  • Citations per Paper,
  • Papers per Faculty,
  • Academic Reputation,
  • Employer Reputation,
  • Faculty Staff with PhD.

BME is the first among the Hungarian universities in two categories; Publications per Faculty Members (21st place) and Employer Reputation (25th place). The University achieved the best result in the Web Impact category (14th place) and it also ranked high in the category of International Research Network (29th place).

BME is the first among the Hungarian technical universities, and it also performed well among the technical universities of the neighbouring and Visegrad countries. The Lomonosov Moscow State University ranks first, followed by Charles University (Prague) and Saint Petersburg State University. The first technical university on the list is the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (ranked 10th). Among the 450 institutions listed, BME and ELTE surpassed their Slovak, Slovenian, Serbian, Croatian and Romanian peers. From our region, only Czech and Polish universities are ahead of BME.
