Latest QS university rankings revealed

BME features in top 500 universities in terms of graduate employability.

The British Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) specialises in publishing university rankings and provides the world’s students in tertiary education with a unique metric tool by which they can evaluate important indicators such as employability outcomes and prospects.

The QS Graduate Employability Rankings, compiled in 2016 for the first time, aims at helping students compare university performance. While last year QS focused their attention to a narrower scope, this year they doubled the number of universities under scrutiny, and issued the list of 500 most valuable universities in terms of employability.

There are two Hungarian universities featuring on the elite list: both BME and ELTE obtained a position in the category ‘301st-500th’. BME’s position can be regarded as outstanding even in comparison with other Visegrad countries, of which only four universities – with a similar scope – managed to achieve better ranking.

Austria: University of Vienna (191-200.), Vienna University of Technology (201-250.), Karl-Franzens-Universitaet Graz, Graz University of Technology, Universität Innsbruck (301-500.)

Croatia: University of Zagreb (301-500.)

Czech Republic: Charles University (161-170.), Brno University of Technology (251-300.), Czech Technical University in Prague (301-500.)

Poland: Jagellonian University, University of Warsaw, Warsaw University of Technology (301-500th)

The best universities topping the ranking are Stanford University, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and Harvard University. The best European university, the University of Cambridge, obtained the sixth best position.

Each institution’s score is comprised of five carefully chosen indicators: employer reputation, alumni outcomes, partnership with employers per faculty, employer-student connections and graduate employment rate. Those compiling the rankings also aimed at reducing the reliance on self-reported figures.
