Guest student status and scholarships offered for students fleeing Ukraine
2022. 04. 21.Detailed information about the Students at Risk Scholarship Program and the guest student status is available on the websites of the BME Central Academic Office (CAO) and the Tempus Public Foundation.
Students fleeing Ukraine (citizens of Ukraine or third countries) can apply to the Budapest University of Technology and Economics as a guest student via the form available on the CAO website. In view of its training capacities and training offer, BME provides an opportunity for refugee students from Ukraine to join university courses. The students can apply by filling in the form available on the CAO website or in person in the Aula of the University's "R" building. The guest student status can last until August 31, 2022, and courses can be attended, but no final exam or diploma can be obtained.
Before the guest student status is offered, BME has to examine whether there is a programme available at the BME which is compatible with the training the student has started in Ukraine. BME also checks if the particular training is available in the language in which the student is able to pursue his or her studies. The relevant faculty carries out the assessment and makes the final decision on the applications. Guest students can continue their studies free of charge. Dormitory accommodation is provided in a limited number as part of another application procedure.
The Tempus Public Foundation (TKA) has announced a new scholarship opportunity for students fleeing Ukraine. The aim of the new Students at Risk program of Stipendium Hungaricum is to provide scholarship opportunities for students who wish to continue their studies to obtain a bachelor, master or doctoral degree in Hungary. Applications have to uploaded on the Tempus Public Foundation's online application platform and the deadline is midnight on April 30, 2022. Information on the application requirements and application forms are available here on the TKA website.
Those involved in the Ukrainian crisis can find information on accommodation, care, education and other issues at the BME Information Point in the Hall of Building “E” (from 8 am to 5 pm on weekdays) or by calling BME volunteers on +36301865559.
