BYD informed about BME's cutting-edge automotive trainings

The leaders of the Chinese automotive major were keen to hear about the research and training directions of the university.
BYD Group Vice President Lou Zhongliang visited BME on 14 May. During the meeting, Vice Rector for Research and Innovation János Levendovszky gave a comprehensive briefing on BME's training and research areas, with a special focus on automotive technologies and artificial intelligence.

At the meeting, which is the first step in the preparation of a future cooperation, BME's international ranking in higher education and the excellent job opportunities for students in Hungarian engineering higher education were also discussed. On behalf of BME, István Varga, Dean of the Faculty of Transport Engineering and Automotive Engineering, and Bálint Molnár, Director of Communications, attended the meeting. BYD was represented by factory manager Yang Xiaovei as well as special experts Chang Xin and Bie Zetan.

BYD has been operating in Hungary since 2005, opening its Komárom manufacturing plant for electric buses in 2017 and choosing Szeged as the location for its first European car plant at the end of 2023. Under the agreement signed between the government and the company on 15 May, BYD will bring its European headquarters, which will also be a development centre, to Budapest.
BME works closely with leading automotive companies, including Bosch, Knorr-Bremse and Jaguar Land Rover, as partners in research programmes and training.
