This year BME has again moved up in the British QS university world ranking - and turned out to be the best university in Hungary according to employers.

BME has moved further ahead in the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Ranking. Of the 20,000 universities in the world, the London-based rating agency has surveyed 8,467, one and a half times more than last year, and ranked 1,501 of them among the world's best. The BME has moved up a further 10 places from last year to 711th-720th in the 2026 world rankings.

This puts BME 14th in the ranking of Eastern European universities, and ahead of major German universities such as the University of Marburg and the University of Düsseldorf.

In Hungary, BME is the best university in terms of employer reputation, ranking 375th in the world. BME also ranked highly in the employer outcome category, which reflects how easily graduates find jobs, and how well-paid jobs those are.

BME is mainly a technical university, therefore its international position is much better reflected by the so-called subject rankings than by the world rankings. In engineering, BME is the only Hungarian institution to be ranked, at 231st, ahead of the prestigious École des Ponts ParisTech in Paris and the Technical University of Graz, among others.
