BME signs agreement with international nanotechnology laboratory

Joint trainings or research programmes may be launched together with INL.
A delegation from BME visited the International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory and representatives of the two institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of materials science and nanotechnology.
The delegation was led by Gergely Zaránd, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs at BME. It included Krisztina László, Professor at the Department of Physical Chemistry and Materials Science, Attila Bonyár, Head of BME's Nanotechnology Laboratory, Gábor Takács, Director of the Intisute of Physics; Andrea Toldy, Professor at the Depratment of Polymer Engineering, and Levente Tapasztó, Head of the Nanostructures Department at the HUN-REN Centre for Energy Research. From the Embassy of Hungary in Lisbon, Judit Pekári-Vékei, Commercial Attaché and Ms Madalena Athayde, Assistant to the Commercial Counsellor, joined the delegation.
In the Memorandum of Understanding, the parties committed themselves to deepen collaboration, including hosting visiting researchers for short and long periods, co-supervising doctoral candidates, and lanuching joint training and research programmes.
Through the sharing of know-how, infrastructure, and resources, INL and BME will draw upon their respective strengths in fields such as carbon-based nanostructures, polymer engineering and quantum physics, accelerating innovation and further cementing the scientific partnership between INL and Hungary.

Following the signature, the Hungarian delegation was guided through a tour of INL’s facilities, located in Braga, by INL researchers. The visit offered a first-hand look at the infrastructure that will support upcoming joint projects and sparked exchanges on how best to harness these capabilities under the new partnership.
