MIT Professor on AI: Michael Cusumano at BME

The world-renowned researcher from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will deliver a lecture on the business and technological aspects of artificial intelligence.

On 29 May, Michael A. Cusumano, professor at the MIT Sloan School of Management and a leading expert in innovation-driven entrepreneurial ecosystems, will present a lecture titled "GenAI as a New Applications Platform," focusing on the latest developments in generative artificial intelligence. He will explore GenAI’s role as an application platform, along with its business and technological implications. He will also touch upon recent advancements in tools such as ChatGPT, DeepSeek, and Nvidia technologies.

A graduate of Princeton University, Professor Cusumano earned his PhD from Harvard. 

He spent eight years in Japan on two Fulbright Fellowships, during which he co-founded the Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation as Vice President of the University of Tokyo. There, he also developed a new curriculum in technology management. He has held visiting appointments at Imperial College London, the University of Tokyo, Hitotsubashi University, the University of St. Gallen, the University of Maryland, and Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich.

He is co-author of the influential book The Business of Platforms, which provides an in-depth look at the structure and economic logic of digital platform strategies.

The public lecture will take place on 29 May at 5:00 p.m. Location: Simonyi Hall, Q Building, BME. The lecture will be followed by a Q&A.
