BME Welcomes Students from Singapore’s Temasek Polytechnic
2026. 10. 02.They gained new experiences through lectures and workshops, as well as visits to laboratories and companies.
Twenty students and two accompanying staff members from Temasek Polytechnic, of Singapore, visited Budapest as part of a week-long study trip to familiarise themselves with the Hungarian higher education, technological and industrial environment. BME and Corvinus University were involved in organising the professional programme. BME hosted the group for two days, arranging laboratory visits, professional presentations and a tour of the campus.
Temasek Polytechnic is a state-funded, practice-oriented higher education institution, a school type between secondary schools and universities in the Singaporean education system. Its main focus is on engineering and information technology, though it also offers social science trainings.
The first day began with a presentation of the High-Voltage Laboratory and some laboratory experiments, after which the students were introduced to electrical power systems, electrical machinery, as well as the associated laboratories. After lunch, the programme continued at the Training Reactor, focusing on the facility’s role in education and research.
Next day, staff at the Wind Tunnel welcomed the group with interactive demonstrations: topics covered included the effect of wind on buildings, the aerodynamics of vehicles, and methods for visualising sound sources and complex airflow patterns. This was followed by a campus tour organised in collaboration with the International Mentor Team, which offered a glimpse into BME’s cultural life and student initiatives – amongst other things, the visitors were introduced to the Szkéné Theatre and the Suborbitals team.
