More than just a meal: this is the International Dinner
2025. 10. 15.The hall of Building I turned into a warm home on October 10 with the smell of freshly cooked meals, big smiles and joyful dances. This was this year’s International Dinner.
The event was organized by the International Mentor Team, the group supporting foreign students at BME, continuing a long-standing tradition. As one of the members explained, the main goal of the dinner is to broaden cultural horizons and bring people together through shared experiences. It is achieved this the help of various national dishes, with Hungarian classics such as "Rákóczi túrós" and "rakott káposzta" among them. According to the mentor, students are showing growing enthusiasm for cooking.
Many students arrived in their national attire to create a more authentic experience. Two girls from Kyrgyzstan said that they had prepared food for about 300 people and all was gone in fifteen minutes. The same happened at the Egyptian table, where the joy of empty plates turned into a spontaneous dance.
Later, all nations danced in a large circle, and we saw several types of folk dances accompanied by broad smiles, which means that, as they say, the event achieved its goal. What began in a cozy atmosphere ended in a family-like mood, providing a true community experience for the participants.
